Conservatory decor ideas for both modern and classic homes

A conservatory makes a fantastic addition to any property, whether it’s traditional or contemporary. If you’ve already got a conservatory, you made a great decision, but you may now be wondering how you’re going to decorate it. If your extension is starting to look tired there are a number of décor ideas, you can use to bring it back to life. We’ve created this blog to provide you with some inspiration for ways you can decorate your conservatory.

Illuminate your conservatory

One of the most important elements throughout your home is the lighting and this doesn’t change when it gets to your conservatory. The lighting you choose should be inspired by your intended use for your extension. For home offices, you’ll require more task lighting and we recommend opting for white light bulbs for clarity when reading. When you’re trying to create a cosy or intimate living room/ hosting space, we recommend you decorate with small light sources. Warm-toned lights will complement the cosy appearance by promoting a soft environment.

Incorporate a variety of textures

To really make your conservatory feel connected to your home, you should carry across textures you’ve used in the connecting rooms. If you’re trying to create a warm and relaxing space, bring in lots of soft & large textures that make the room feel soft and inviting. Adding a variety of blankets including chunky knits and teddy soft materials provides interest whilst bringing warmth to your conservatory.

Natural textured and coloured rugs are perfect for promoting a fresh, summery look whilst blending your home and garden. Whereas a patterned rug can set off a neutrally decorated conservatory, drawing the eye into a fun and exciting conservatory.

If there’s a lot of foot traffic through your conservatory from the garden, we advise choosing an outdoor rug as these can withstand a lot more than a standard rug. They’re also much easier to clean rain, mud and dirt from.

Change the style with the seasons

If the main use of your conservatory is as a hosting area, it can be a nice touch to update your décor as the seasons change. There’s a variety of ways this can be done, from subtle touches to turning your conservatory into a winter wonderland. Don’t forget many discount stores have begun stocking high-quality seasonal décor around the year, so there’s no need to break the bank redecorating for the season.

If your conservatory features a dining table, dressing this for the season is a subtle way to glam up your extension. During the Easter and Christmas periods, there are usually large family events. Dressing your table will create a centrepiece to the room that can be enjoyed by all of your guests.

Refurbish your conservatory by upgrading to a Guardian warm roof

When you have an older conservatory, it can start to look tired and become inefficient. Simply refreshing the décor inside won’t be enough to modernise your extension, we recommend refurbishing the exterior too.

Replacing the roof of your conservatory is the perfect solution for modernising your glazed extension. A tiled roof creates the illusion of a permanent extension whilst still offering the same benefits of a traditional conservatory. With a tiled roof, there’s no need to compromise on natural light, you’re easily able to incorporate Fakro roof windows or an Atlas rooflight into the design of your bespoke replacement roof.
