When you start working with our expert team, we may ask you about your budget, this is so that we can appropriately guide your decision. Ensuring you receive the very best windows that suit your personal requirements and specifications whilst remaining within budget. Here’s our advice on choosing the right window for your Essex home.

Double glazed windows in uPVC

Consider the existing style of your window

The style of your home should have the biggest influence on your new windows, you may also want to consider the style of your neighbour’s home and their windows. Although you aren’t required to have the same as them it usually looks better if you choose windows that are complimentary to theirs. If you have a good relationship with your neighbours, you could also ask them for your opinion.

If you’re living in a listed property within a restrictive area, you will often need to replace your existing windows for either exact matches or like-for-like replicas. Luckily at Halstead Glass, we offer Timeless flush casement windows that have been designed to perfectly replicate early 19th Century timber windows. They’re even available in a variety of textured authentic wood grain finishes to complete your look.

When you’re living in a more modern property you have a lot fewer restrictions in place and you’ll have much more freedom on your chosen window style and finish.

Decide on the most appropriate window style

At Halstead Glass, we offer our efficient uPVC windows in a choice of six attractive styles to suit every property. We have styles that perfectly replicate traditional windows as well as contemporary styles that enhance all home styles.

Bay & bow windows

White bay style window installation

Make a characterful statement with a bay or bow window, they typically protrude out of the main wall in your home. They also provide you with additional living space that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Casement windows

Casement windows are the most favourable window styles available, they’re recognisable by their simple side opening. They’re perfect for all property types as they’ve been a long-lasting favourite.

Flush casement windows

Flush casements offer the same functionality as standard casement windows, the only difference is that they sit flush within the frame for a sleek and attractive finish. They were cleverly designed to replicate traditional timber windows and are therefore the perfect choice for period properties.

Sash horn windows

Offering a sophisticated elegance, sash horn windows provide delicate charm to properties of any style and era. They look particularly beautiful when used in older Victorian homes.

Tilt & turn windows

Tile and turn windows opened fully inwards

Tilt and turn windows are easily recognisable by their unique opening style. You’re able to tilt the windows inwards to allow for safe ventilation and easy cleaning. They’re perfectly suited to multi-storey townhouses or high-rise buildings.

Vertical sliding windows

Vertical sliding windows are operated by opening upwards and downwards rather than from the side or top. They are well suited to all property types regardless of era, we find they look lovely on period properties and are often approved for use in these.

Think about window colours and finishes

Our uPVC windows are available in a variety of attractive colours and finishes, we have modern options like sleek black and monochrome grey, or you could opt for charming cream in traditional properties. We even offer authentic wood grain effects that are able to perfectly replicate traditional timber windows.

Double, triple or secondary glazing?

At Halstead Glass, all of our uPVC windows come with efficient double glazing as standard. However, for many of our window styles you do have the option to upgrade to triple glazing should you require the additional benefits. Triple glazing isn’t for everyone as it is thicker and heavier than double glazing, but it does enhance your home’s thermal performance and noise reduction.

We also offer Granada secondary glazing for homeowners that live in restrictive areas and aren’t in the position to replace their existing windows. The secondary glazing units are expertly manufactured to be fixed perfectly to either the face or the reveal of your existing windows. As secondary glazing sits independently from your window it can be installed in a fuss-free manner that causes minimal interruption to you or your home.
