The Howarth’s enlisted the help of Halstead Glass to revive a small conservatory at the rear of their property. The conservatory wasn’t used, so transforming this area into a functional room that maintained a comfortable temperature was the focus of the project.
The Howarth’s chose Halstead Glass to do the work on their Ipswich home due to the professional service and package they were offered.
Replacement conservatory in Ipswich, Suffolk
Our installation team took the journey from our base in Halstead to the beautiful Suffolk town. We removed the old conservatory and began work on the new extension. Our expert team of installers completed the full brickwork on the new installation, as the Howarth’s had asked us to extend the conservatory area for additional living space.
The Howarth’s opted for white energy-efficient uPVC windows. Advancements in manufacturing and design techniques allow the new windows to provide a far superior thermal performance than their predecessors. While the door on the old conservatory was a sliding patio door, beautiful French doors were selected for the new conservatory. The classic 2-door design and ultra-slim frames allow for a wide opening, welcoming fresh air and natural light into the room.
Replacement Guardian Warm Roof
A Guardian Warm Roof was the roofing choice for the new conservatory. While the old roof provided ample natural light, it wasn’t effective at keeping the Suffolk elements at bay. The Guardian Warm Roof has a precision-engineered design that features multiple layers of insulation, including 2 layers of rigid insulation board and internal insulated plasterboard.
This clever design allows the conservatory to maintain a more consistent temperature year-round and keep heating bills low. How effective is this design? U-value is a measure of an object’s heat loss. The lower the value, the better an object is at retaining heat. The roof of a house has a U-value of around 0.11 W/m2k, and the Guardian Warm Roof can achieve a U-Value as low as 0.18 W/m2k.
The Guardian Warm Roof has an internal plaster finish with the option to have lighting built-in. The Howarth’s opted to give the conservatory a boost of natural light with Roof Windows. These windows allow for ventilation, without sacrificing the room’s energy efficiency. The tiles on the conservatory were selected to match the home’s existing roof.
